Community Meetings

Community Meeting No.1 (31.8.2025)

This summarises the key takeaways that we discussed at the community meeting on Saturday 30th August:

Wiltshire’s housing targets are set to increase by 84%.

  • Unless Hullavington has a Neighbourhood Development Plan, we will have no real control over:
    • How many houses are built here
    • Where they are built

With a refreshed Development Plan, however, we as a community can:

  • Shape where new development takes place
  • Protect the character of our village
  • Secure facilities that matter most to residents (e.g. footpaths, sports facilities, safer roads, open space)

At the meeting, Simon Durrant explained why updating our Plan is so important, and shared some positive news:

  • Two local landowners have offered community land within the village and this creates a real opportunity to influence how Hullavington develops for the benefit of everyone

The next step is forming a Steering Group to work with the community, gather ideas, and share information as the Plan develops.

Community Meeting No.2 (3.10.2025)

A follow up community workshop was held on 3rd October, with approximately 30 people attending.

We know not everyone can physically get to the meetings, so there was the choice to attend in person or dial in remotely.  This was the first time we had run a meeting in this way, and we are pleased to say it was a success, so where appropriate we will use technology to aid as many people as possible joining in.

Those who attended, told us they would like to see

  • Nice country housing
  • Wildflower areas (semi-mowed)
  • Wooden sustainable play area
  • Café, not bistro and pub
  • Playground
  • Mountain bike / scooter track
  • Coffee shop / hub
  • Football pitch
  • Area for kids of all ages to play and meet
  • A pedestrian area where you can run, ride your bike, or have a little kick around

We currently have around 66 people on our communication database, which is used to provide updates, so if you aren’t already signed up, please contact me.
