Community Resilience in Action: Storms Bert & Darragh

This update highlights how Hullavington’s Community Resilience Plan was tested by two recent storms — Bert and Darragh — and why continued vigilance is essential.

Storm Bert caused significant disruption, including flooded homes, roads cut off, and possible sewage contamination. Emergency plans were activated, local volunteers stepped up, and vital support was offered — proving the importance of preparedness.

While Storm Darragh caused less damage, both events underline a pressing reality: even lower-strength storms now pose serious risks.

This report reflects on what happened, what was learned, and what needs to improve — and is a call to stay involved and ready.
