Without an up-to-date Neighbourhood Development Plan, Hullavington would have much less influence over how the village develops over the coming years.

New housing is planned through a combination of national planning policy, Wiltshire Council’s Local Plan and market demand. A Neighbourhood Development Plan cannot stop all development, but it can help ensure that development is planned in a way that reflects local priorities.

If Hullavington doesn’t have an up-to-date NDP, we would lose the opportunity to:

• influence where development takes place
• shape the type and design of new homes
• secure community benefits alongside development
• protect the features that make the village special

In simple terms, without an up-to-date NDP, many more decisions about Hullavington’s future would be made without the community’s input. That’s particularly important at the moment given that national housing requirements have increased significantly and Wiltshire Council is preparing a new Local Plan to accommodate that growth. An up-to-date NDP gives Hullavington a much stronger voice in shaping how those changes affect our village.

Choosing not to have an up-to-date NDP won’t stop new development or growth. It simply means the community has less influence over where it happens, what it looks like and the benefits it brings to Hullavington.
