Living in a village is a privilege, and having local amenities on our doorstep adds so much to the convenience and enjoyment of daily life. Hullavington is fortunate to have its own village shop, and it’s important that we all do what we can to support this valuable community resource.
A wonderful group of volunteers has come together to help give the shop a little facelift and to explore ways to encourage more people to make use of everything it offers. With community support, we can help ensure the shop continues to thrive for years to come.
Hullavington volunteers at work!
Was great to have the support of some of the Hullavington Village Store volunteers group today! The eleven of us, tidied, weeded, swept, cleaned, planted, painted, and importantly, laughed together as we worked! We made a great start and hope that you will notice a difference. Will be in touch shortly about fresh local produce delivered to the store …………

EXCITING NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!
We are excited to say that the provision of fresh local breads and sweet and savoury pastries direct from the Hullavington Store is a step closer – something the community told us they wanted!
In conjunction with reputable Malmesbury suppliers – Michael’s Butchers & Delicatessen and The Old Bakehouse, pre-ordering with a commitment to pay on a range of items including breads, savouries, pastries and confectionary, can be possible BUT only if there is sufficient demand! Details below:
Register now to join this scheme
At this stage, we need to assess whether there is sufficient demand, so if you are interested then simply register your details using a form available in the Store, or let me know by e-mail and we will contact you with further details in due course.
Households will not be signing up to a weekly commitment, but we will need to be satisfied that there will be sufficient regular weekly orders from the community.
What products would be available & at what cost?
- A range of savoury items including pies, sausage rolls, scotch eggs, pasties, samosas, etc, from Michael’s
- A range of breads including seeded, wholemeal, sourdough, rye, rolls, baguettes, etc, and sweet pastries including croissant, buns, pain au chocolate, doughnuts, etc & confectionary including shortbreads, brownie, flapjack, almond slice, etc, from The Old Bake House
At this stage, we cannot predict demand but we do know there can be no negative financial implications for owner Paul, so we are simply putting 10% on the price payable if you were to buy directly from Michael’s or The Old Bakehouse which is a great deal as we will be getting delivery to the village! win win all round!
How this scheme is expected to work
- Place your order by 3pm Wednesday either in the Hullavington Store (paying at point of order), or by e-mail with a commitment to pay
- Collect from the Hullavington Store:
- Michael’s produce: after 4pm Friday or Saturday morning (delivered by Michael’s to Hullavington)
- The Old Bake House produce: after 9.30am Saturday morning (collected by volunteers from Malmesbury)
- People with mobility issues needing a home delivery can still register their interest – a volunteer will work with you to assist in ordering, payment and delivery
When could this Scheme start?
If there is sufficient interest, this scheme could get off the ground mid-late May, so register ASAP so we know whether to launch! We will also then provide more comprehensive details of items for order, with costs.
What are the benefits?
The community gets great fresh local produce at our local store without needing to drive / park / pay for parking; Paul receives 10% and gets more footfall through his shop encouraging additional sales; and our community continues to work together – this is a win-win all around!
