The Hullavington Weekly: A Hub of Activity!

It is another busy week in our vibrant community! From shaping the long-term future of our village to enjoying a slice of pizza, there is plenty to get involved with over the next seven days.

Here is your breakdown of what’s happening in and around Hullavington:

🏛️ Planning & Progress: Monday & Wednesday

We have two meetings this week for those who want to stay informed about the village’s development.

  • Monday Evening: NDP Steering Group The Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) team is meeting Monday night. Residents are very welcome to attend and listen in.
  • Wednesday Evening: Parish Council Meeting The full Council will be meeting to discuss local matters, including the ongoing improvements to the Village Green.

🛡️ Quiz and chilli: Friday Night

While slightly outside the parish boundaries, many of us are closely following the Stop Lime Down effort. There is a fundraising event this Friday evening in Grittleton House. Tickets from www.stoplimedown.com/quiz

🍕 Rugby & Refreshments: Saturday Night

The Six Nations excitement continues! To make the match day even better, we have the Pizza Van visiting the village this Saturday. Timing details in What’s On.

  • Time: pizza serving from 5:00 PM

🚧 A Note on the Roads: Thursday 12th

Keep an eye out for potential disruption this Thursday. There is a possibility of a road closure on February 12th to allow Openreach to carry out works. You can find details about road closures on the parish council website here.

  • Status: Not yet confirmed! Let’s hope they manage to get the work sorted.

Most importantly – don’t forget its Valentine’s Day on Saturday! Cards, chocolates and wine in our shop

Thank you Debbie for everything you’re doing in trying to get the pothole filled in on the left hand side of the road by the cemetery. What about the holes just before you come into the village? More importantly, what about the evil potholes in the village? If I were to take photos, I would need to film the entire street. I appreciate “funds” will play a big part but the state of the road is simply awful. I know this is an issue all over the country but is there anything the council or councillor can do?

    1. Very good point – the one by the village green has been reported and is due to be sorted. The road towards Grittleton is due for work week after next. I noticed a dreadful one going into Green’s Close which I will report on MyWilts. Anyone can report potholes – the more they get reported, the higher the priority. I am working hard on behalf of the Parish Council to get our residents’ needs represented to Highways – multiple exchanges each week!!

Thank you. I do appreciate what you are doing for us and you must have a very challenging role. You seem to be the only one doing anything!! We have a pothole outside our house in Royal Field Close which my husband reported. One of our neighbours reported the same one and got a reply saying it had already been reported. Does their response count towards the number of reports? A chap came to inspect it and we haven’t seen him since! It’s nowhere near as bad as Green’s Close so I guess we’ll have to wait. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

      2. Hello again and thank you for your thank yous! A number of the parish councillors are working very hard indeed, especially Sarah and Simon on the Neighbourhood Development plan, Jon on our representation at Wilts Council and Richie looking after our assets. The highways matters are certainly taking up rather a lot of my time at the moment!
