The Village Weekly: Solar Hearings, Elvis Night, & Road Safety

Happy Friday, everyone! Grab a cuppa and catch up on everything happening around our community this week. For the full What’s On follow this link to the Hullavington Community website.

☀️ Lime Down Solar Park: Hearing Update

The most recent round of public hearings for the proposed Lime Down Solar Project wrapped up last week as part of the ongoing Planning Inspectorate examination.

Local representatives, including South Cotswolds MP Roz Savage, the Stop Lime Down campaign group and Debbie Lawley, Chair of our Parish Council, strongly voiced our community’s concerns. Key discussions centred around the compulsory acquisition of land, environmental impacts on our rural landscape, food security, and local transport infrastructure.

Further public hearings are scheduled for September, with a final recommendation expected by October 21. If you want to dive into the full details, links to the official documents are available via the recent Parish Council news item.

🎸 Film Night: A Little Less Conversation, A Little More Action!

Dust off your blue suede shoes! This coming Wednesday evening 15th July, the Village Hall is transforming into a cinema for a special Elvis film night.

Whether you are a lifelong fan of the King or just love the music, it promises to be a fantastic, nostalgic night out with neighbours. Doors open at 7:00 PM. Refreshments included – £3.00 adults/under 18s free.

🚗 Have Your Say: Community Speed & Road Safety Survey

We all know that road safety and speeding through the village are constant talking points. Now is our chance to actually influence change.

Please take five minutes to participate in the Community Speed and Road Safety Survey. The results will be submitted directly to the highways authority — this is your opportunity to have your say on traffic and road safety in Hullavington, whatever your view. Here’s the link.

🚧 Heads Up: Upcoming Road Closures (Vistry Site)

A quick logistical warning for the weeks ahead: there will be a series of road closures later in August related to the ongoing infrastructure works at the Vistry development site.

Exact dates, diversion routes, and timing updates will follow shortly on the Parish Council noticeboard as soon as they are finalised. We will also be talking to the bus timetable people to see what service can be offered during those closures.

Finally, ⚽ Come On, England!

Have a wonderful week, everyone!
