A huge thank you to everyone who came out to support our local events – here is a quick look back at what we’ve achieved together, plus a round-up of events and important notices coming up over the next week! For full details look in What’s On.

Looking Back: Community Action in Full Swing

• Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) Open Drop-In: Thank you to everyone who dropped in last Saturday to discuss the progress of the NDP! Having open conversations about how our plan creates a protective “shield” for the village during Wiltshire Council’s Local Plan delay is so important. Your feedback is vital as the team continues refining the policies.
• Defibrillator Awareness Session: A big thank you to everyone who attended the free awareness session at the Village Hall. Gaining hands-on confidence with our village defibrillator equipment truly makes Hullavington a safer place for all of us.
• Wednesday Film Night: Another fantastic turnout for our midweek movie night! It was wonderful to see neighbours catching up over refreshments and enjoying a great film together in the Village Hall.

Important Local Notice: Village Shop Winter Hours

• 🏪 Saturday Closing Time Change: As the autumn days get shorter, please note that the Village Shop will now be closing at 2:00 PM on Saturdays. Please adjust your weekend popping-in plans accordingly so you don’t miss out on your essentials!

The Week Ahead: Dates for Your Diary!

1. Brand New Pre-School Play Group!

• 🗓 When: Every Friday, 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
• 📍 Where: St Mary Magdalene Church
• We are thrilled to welcome a brand-new play group for pre-schoolers and their parents/carers! Come along for a friendly morning of toys, play, and a chance for parents and carers to catch up over a warm cup of tea or coffee while the little ones play.

2. Village Tidy Weekend: Autumn Storm & Accessibility Prep

• 🗓 When: This Weekend!
• 🧹 The Plan: With autumn stormy weather approaching, we are asking for a village-wide effort to clear our roadside gutters and road gullies so rainwater can run freely and prevent localised surface flooding.
• ✂️ Special Focus on Hedges & Paths: As part of our ongoing commitment to making Hullavington accessible for everyone, please take a moment to cut back any hedges or overhanging vegetation along your boundary that encroaches on public footpaths. Keeping our pavements wide and clear makes a massive difference for wheelchair users, residents with mobility challenges, and parents with prams!

3. Harvest Festival & Donating Food Items

• 🗓 When: Sunday, 4th October at 11:00 AM
• 📍 Where: St Mary Magdalene Church
• Join us as we celebrate Harvest Festival in the church! We are collecting non-perishable food donations to support local families and food banks.
• 📦 Donation Appeal: Donations are welcome any time from now – please pop your items into the collection points inside the church. Canned food is especially welcome with the exception of canned pulses.

4. Launch of Messy Church!

• 🗓 When: Sunday, 4th October, 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
• 📍 Where: St Mary Magdalene Church
• Following Harvest Festival, we are super excited to launch Messy Church! It’s a fun, informal afternoon for children of all ages and their families, filled with action songs, creative crafts, games, and engaging Bible stories. Everyone is welcome – come along and get messy!
